The PVH Europe Legal Department is based in the PVH Europe headquarters in Amsterdam and is an international, dynamic, fun and close-knit team of 20 professionals under the leadership of the Vice President, Legal Affairs of PVH Europe. 
Currently, the main activities relate to brand protection, intellectual property, contracts, and corporate and compliance matters, related to the Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein businesses in the EMEA+ region. For brand protection the department acts as the first point of contact for Tommy Hilfiger worldwide and for Calvin Klein in Europe. Intellectual property matters relate to trademark infringements, trademark clearance and licensing and co-branding. The contractual work and corporate and compliance matters mostly relate to distribution, supply chain, real estate, IT, privacy, M&A matters, antitrust, marketing, promotions and licensing. 

In order to improve internal management and reporting and the rapid global expansion of the directly operated businesses employment law is being added to the scope of the PVH Europe Legal Department’s responsibilities. Due to this the position of a Dutch Employment Law Counsel is created.

Currently we are looking for a Dutch Employment Law Counsel (Amsterdam).

 

Dutch Employment Law Counsel  

You will closely work with the Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Employment and Litigation of PVH Corp., and the PVH Europe HR Department. You will also work in close collaboration with the PVH Corp. Legal Department and local business managers and outside counsel. 

The Employment Law Counsel in collaboration with internal partners and outside counsel, is expected to: 

  • Advise on all employment law-related matters for PVH Europe. 
  • Develop and implement scalable and appropriate regional employment policies, programs, and systems and work with the PVH Corp. team on global employment policies, programs, and systems to ensure compliance with laws in applicable European jurisdictions. 
  • Work with HR to draft, implement and update local requirements related to works councils, unions, internal regulations, work rules, and other region-specific employment compliance requirements. 
  • Provide subject matter expertise and training on a broad range of employment law aspects of recruiting, hiring, compensation, wage & hour, contingent workers, HR practices, performance management, organizational transformation, and terminations. 
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage employment law risk, and offer practical, creative solutions to business partners of PVH Europe. 
  • Work closely with the PVH Europe HR team to manage and support HR compliance, employee escalations, internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts, and employment law claims. 
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of outside counsel to ensure that the handling and resolution of claims and litigations are consistent with PVH Corp. values and business practices. 
  • Ensure internal partners receive effective, business-focused employment law support that is consistent with PVH values. 

 

Profile 

  • Qualified lawyer, with at least five years of relevant legal experience in employment and labour law. 
  • Dutch employment law degree and in-house experience within Europe at a U.S.- based public company are a must. 
  • Proven ability to influence, effect, and manage change. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong and productive working relationships and partnerships with HR partners, business managers, and legal colleagues. 
  • Ability to work with diverse and multi-faceted teams in meeting corporate goals and initiatives. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Europe (with some regularity) and globally (infrequently). 
  • Excellent communication skills and advocacy (spoken and written); Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. 
  • Fluency in Dutch, both written and spoken, is strongly preferred. Competency in other European languages is desirable but not required.
