The Legal Counsel of the Contracts & Compliance team is crucial to the substantial international trading and origination business of Statkraft. The team members are part of all key stages, from advising on the regulatory framework and developing the business idea, including the contractual framework to implement it, to deal negotiation and execution. The team, concentrated to Statkraft’s offices in Düsseldorf and Amsterdam, work in close cooperation to support the business all over the continent and overseas, facilitating transactions while ensuring appropriate legal risk management.  


For our office in Düsseldorf and/or our office in Amsterdam we are looking for one or more


Legal Counsel


Main tasks:

  • Advise on regulatory regimes, including in relation to renewable energy in Europe
  • Negotiate standard commodity trading framework agreements
  • Assist in developing and negotiating bespoke trading and origination transactions
  • Assist the front office teams with any other legal matters in relation to the trading activities, such as notifications to authorities, obtaining of licenses, power exchange or clearing bank issues, claims, etc.
  • Advise on legal and compliance risk, including providing input to Middle Office and senior management
  • Instruct external counsel when appropriate


Your profile:

  • Qualified lawyer with at least three years of professional experience in an international law firm or in a multinational energy company.
  • Experience in drafting contracts, ideally energy related contracts
  • Knowledge of energy regulation is an advantage
  • Excellent English skills; another language such as German, French or Dutch is an advantage
  • Commercially orientated, result driven, self-starter and able to take initiative
  • Good team player
  • High level of personal integrity
